Which products are included in a Workspace Protection license?

The Sophos Workspace Protection license includes the following products:

  • Sophos Protected Browser
  • Sophos ZTNA
  • Sophos DNS Protection for endpoints
  • Sophos Email Monitoring System

How are the Workspace Protection licenses calculated?

We consider your license count to be the same as the highest number of users or devices for any product in your bundle.

Here's an example to show how we calculate your standalone Workspace Protection license.

If you have 75 ZTNA users, 80 Protected Browser users, and 100 devices using DNS Protection, we consider your license to be a 100-count license.

Here's an example to show how we calculate your Sophos Endpoint Plus Workspace Protection license.

If you have 75 ZTNA users, 80 Protected Browser users, 100 devices using DNS Protection, and 120 devices running Sophos Endpoint, we consider your license to be a 120-count license.

How are the licenses counted when a user signs in on multiple devices?

It's counted as one license if the same user signs in on more than one device.

Is a trial license available?

Yes, you can try Workspace Protection with a 30-day trial license. See Free Trials.

What happens when my Workspace Protection license expires?

After your license expires, your Workspace Protection products won't be available in Sophos Central. Your configuration will remain and appear again once you renew the license.

Protected Browser

How does the licensing work?

Sophos Protected Browser is included in the Workspace Protection license. The license is based on the number of users. For example, you could purchase a license for 10 users or 100 users.

DNS Protection

How does the licensing work?

Sophos DNS Protection for endpoints is included in the Workspace Protection license. This license is based on the number of devices using DNS Protection.

ZTNA

How does the licensing work?

Sophos ZTNA is included in the Workspace Protection license. The ZTNA license is based on the number of authenticated users. For example, you could purchase a license for 10 users or 100 users.

Can I use the same license for both ZTNA gateway deployment modes?

Yes. You can use the same license for both on-premises and Sophos Cloud gateways.

If you set up a Sophos Cloud gateway, there's a bandwidth restriction of an average of 15 GB per user per month. See Licensing Guidelines.

Can I use the same license for agent-based and agentless access to resources?

Yes. You can use the same license regardless of which method is used to access resources.

What happens if one of my users doesn't require a license anymore?

ZTNA licenses are based on the number of authenticated users over the past 30 days. If a user hasn't accessed resources in the past 30 days, the user is removed from the license.

You can see how many authenticated users you have in your ZTNA reports under Gateway bandwidth and Resource bandwidth.
