Add firewall

Add firewalls to Sophos Central.

Add a new firewall

To add a new firewall, do as follows:

1. Go to My Products > Firewall Management > Firewalls.
2. Click Add Firewall and then click Add a new Firewall.

3. Enter the serial number of your Sophos Firewall, and click Next.

   Claim firewall appears.

   

4. Click Claim and Continue.

5. Click Next.
6. Accept the license agreement and click Continue.
7. Select the name and time zone of the firewall and click Continue.
8. Check the licensed features, opt into the customer experience improvement program if you want to, and click Continue.
9. Configure your LAN settings.
10. Click Edit Internet Connection to configure your WAN settings.
11. Click Apply then Continue.

12. Select your Network protection settings, then click Continue.

    

13. Check your Configuration summary, then click Finish.

14. (Optional) Click Configure internet settings. If your firewall needs custom internet settings, you can configure them before downloading the configuration file.
15. Click Download. This downloads the Light-Touch configuration file.
16. Click Next.

17. Save your configuration to a USB stick, connect the USB stick to your firewall, connect your firewall to the internet, and turn your firewall on.

    Your firewall applies the configuration settings from the Light-Touch configuration file. Your firewall will be joined to your Sophos Central account.

    Note

    If you want to deploy your firewall later, click Continue without waiting.

18. Click Continue.

    You'll see your firewall in your firewall list, under Ungrouped.

Add an existing firewall

You can add a firewall that's already deployed. To do this, do as follows:

1. Go to My Products > Firewall Management > Firewalls.
2. Click Add Firewall and then click Join a firewall that is configured or deployed.
3. Enter the serial number of your Sophos Firewall, and click Next.
4. Select your preferred method of registration, then follow these instructions: Enable Sophos Central management of Sophos Firewall.

Attach a label to your firewall

You can add a label to your Sophos Firewall. This helps identify your firewall when we send email notifications for various alerts such as when the gateway is up or down.

To add a label to your firewall do as follows:

1. Click the three dots next to your firewall then click Attach a label.

   

2. A pop-up appears. Enter a name for the firewall label in the dialogue box then click Add.

   

   The firewall label must be different from the firewall name and serial number.

   The firewall label appears next to the firewall.

   

3. To edit or delete the firewall label, click the three dots next to the firewall and click Edit/Delete label.
