Reset multi-factor authentication

You can reset the multi-factor authentication for an enterprise administrator or for a sub-estate user.

Reset MFA for an enterprise administrator

Enterprise administrators must use another form of authentication, as well as their username and password, to sign in. They can use Google Authenticator, SMS texts, or email authentication.

If you're a Sophos Central Enterprise super admin, you can allow administrators to set up their sign-in again, for example, if they lose their phone.

To reset an administrator's MFA, do as follows:

  1. Click the Global Settings icon Global Settings icon..
  2. In Access Control, click Admins & Roles.
  3. Select an administrator. The administrator's details page shows.
  4. Click Reset MFA and confirm that you want to do a reset.

The next time the enterprise administrator tries to sign in, they'll need to go through the setup steps again. See Set up multi-factor authentication.

Reset MFA for a sub-estate user

To reset a sub-estate user's MFA, do as follows:

  1. Go to My Sub-Estates > Sub-Estates.
  2. On the Sub-Estates page, select a sub-estate and click Launch customer.

The sub-estate is launched and you're redirected to the dashboard.

  3. Go to My Environment > Users & Groups.

  4. On the Users & Groups page, select the user that you want to reset MFA for.

    The user's profile displays.

  5. Click Reset MFA.
