Manage Apple Business Manager devices

On the Apple DEP devices page, you manage devices you deploy via Apple Business Manager (Apple Business Manager devices).

You can assign an Apple Business Manager profile to these devices that provides information to Apple Business Manager when the device is set up.

The Apple Business Manager profile associated with the device in Sophos Mobile might be different from the profile the device uses. If you assign a different profile to a device that’s already enrolled, the device continues to use the previously assigned profile until it’s wiped and set up again.

Change profile assignment

To change the Apple Business Manager profile for a device, do as follows:

  1. On the menu sidebar, click Devices and then click Apple DEP.
  2. Click Synchronize with Apple Business Manager.
  3. Select the device to which you want to assign a different profile.
  4. Click Actions and then click the required action:

    • Assign profile: Select the Apple Business Manager profile Sophos Mobile assigns to the device the next time the device is set up.
    • Unassign profile: Assign no Apple Business Manager profile.

If you assign no profile, the device uses the default profile that you configured on the Apple DEP profiles tab of the Apple setup page. If you haven’t configured a default profile, the device doesn’t enroll with Sophos Mobile the next time it’s set up.

Profile status

To check the Apple Business Manager profile assigned to a device, see the Profile and Profile status information on the Apple DEP devices page.

Profile status can be one of the following.

Status Description
Pushed

The device is enrolled with Sophos Mobile using the profile shown under Profile.

The next time the device is set up, it enrolls with Sophos Mobile using the same profile.

Assigned

You assigned a profile, but the device doesn’t use it yet.

If there’s a device name under Enrolled device, the device is already enrolled but uses a different profile or no profile. If there’s no name, the device isn’t enrolled.

The next time the device is set up, it enrolls with Sophos Mobile using the profile shown under Profile.

Removed

You unassigned the profile from the device after it enrolled with Sophos Mobile.

If you haven’t configured a default profile, the device doesn’t automatically enroll with Sophos Mobile the next time it is set up.

Empty

You haven’t assigned a profile to the device.

If there’s a device name under Enrolled device, the device is enrolled but doesn’t use a profile. If there’s no name, the device isn’t enrolled.

If you haven’t configured a default profile, the device doesn’t automatically enroll with Sophos Mobile the next time it’s set up.
