Troubleshoot Apple Business devices

This page tells you how to fix common issues with Apple Business (formerly Apple Business Manager) devices.

Sophos Mobile Control isn't installed

Check the following if Sophos Mobile Control isn't installed automatically during device setup:

  • You turned on Install SMC app on the Enrollment tab of your Apple Business profile. See Enrollment.

  • You configured one of the following:

    • You added Sophos Mobile Control to Apple Business apps and configured Sophos Mobile to automatically assign apps to devices. See Manage Apple Business apps.
    • You turned off Apple ID on the iOS setup tab of your Apple Business profile. See iOS setup.

  • If you added Sophos Mobile Control to Apple Business apps: You have licenses available for Sophos Mobile Control in your Apple Business location.

Device is unmanaged

If Sophos Mobile shows an iPhone or iPad as unmanaged, although you assigned it an Apple Business profile, make sure that the user has opened the Sophos Mobile Control app.

Opening Sophos Mobile Control is required to complete enrollment if your Apple Business profile has the Install SMC app setting turned on.
