Troubleshoot Apple Business Manager devices

This page tells you how to fix common issues with Apple Business Manager devices.

Sophos Mobile Control isn’t installed

Check the following if Sophos Mobile Control isn’t installed automatically during device setup:

  • You turned on Install SMC app on the Enrollment tab of your Apple Business Manager profile. See Enrollment.
  • You configured one of the following:

    • You added Sophos Mobile Control to Apple Business Manager apps and configured Sophos Mobile to automatically assign apps to devices. See Manage Apple Business Manager apps.
    • You turned off Apple ID on the iOS setup tab of your Apple Business Manager profile. See iOS setup.
  • If you added Sophos Mobile Control to Apple Business Manager apps: You have licenses available for Sophos Mobile Control in your Apple Business Manager location.

Device is unmanaged

If Sophos Mobile shows an iPhone or iPad as unmanaged, although you assigned it an Apple Business Manager profile, make sure that the user has opened the Sophos Mobile Control app.

Opening Sophos Mobile Control is required to complete enrollment if your Apple Business Manager profile has the Install SMC app setting turned on.
