Create app group

  1. On the menu sidebar, under SETTINGS, click App groups and then click the platform for which you want to create the app group.
  2. Click Create app group.
  3. On the Edit app group page, enter a name for the new app group and then click Add app.
  4. Select an app you want to add to the group:
    • To select an app from the list of all apps currently installed on your managed devices, click App list and select an app.
    • To add an app manually, click Custom and configure the app details.

    Settings for Android apps:

    App name

    A unique name to identify the app.

    Identifier

    The package name of the app.

    You can get the package name from the app’s URL in Google Play. For example, the URL of the Sophos Mobile Control app is play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sophos.mobilecontrol.client.android and the package name is com.sophos.mobilecontrol.client.android.

    For apps from managed Google Play (apps for Android Enterprise devices), put app: in front of the package name.

    The URL of the app in Google Play.

    Settings for iOS and macOS apps:

    App name

    A unique name to identify the app.

    Identifier

    The bundle ID of the app.

    Link

    The URL of the app in the App Store.

    Settings for Windows Mobile apps:

    App name

    A unique name to identify the app.

    Identifier

    The GUID of the app.

    If you don’t know the GUID, fill in the Link field instead.

    Link

    The URL of the app in Microsoft Store.

    For example, the URL of the Sophos Mobile Control app is https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/mobile-control-2017/9nblggh51qsj.

    Settings for Windows apps:

    App name

    A unique name to identify the app.

    Identifier

    The ID of the app as reported by Windows.

    For MSI apps, this is the ProductCode GUID of the MSI file.

    For Microsoft Store apps, this is the Package Family Name (PFN) of the app.

    Link

    The URL of the app in Microsoft Store.

    Settings for Chrome OS apps and extensions:

    App name

    A unique name to identify the app or extension.

    Identifier

    The package name of the app or extension.

    You can get the package name from the URL in the Chrome Web Store.

    For example, the URL of Sophos Chrome Security is chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/sophos-chrome-security/lkffbjbdklhachngaoeelmcgijmlicph and the package name is lkffbjbdklhachngaoeelmcgijmlicph.

  5. Click Add.
  6. Optional Repeat the previous steps to add more apps.
  7. Click Save to save the app group.
