Add Android device to Mobile Threat Defense

To add a device to Mobile Threat Defense, you install Intercept X for Mobile and enroll it with Sophos.

Requirements

  • The device is enrolled with Intune mobile device management (MDM).

    You can't add devices that use Intune mobile application management (MAM).

  • The Intune Company Portal app is installed.

Restriction

You can't add Android devices that use Microsoft Intune's Corporate-owned dedicated devices enrollment profile, such as kiosk devices, to Mobile Threat Defense. This is because Mobile Threat Defense requires the user to be signed in to the Intune Company Portal app, which isn't possible with this enrollment profile.

To add an Android device to Mobile Threat Defense:

  1. On the device, open the Company Portal app.

  2. Under Apps, select Intercept X.

    This opens Intercept X for Mobile in Google Play.

  3. Install the app.

  4. Open Intercept X for Mobile and follow the instructions.
  5. On the app's dashboard, select Tap to connect to Microsoft Intune and follow the instructions.

Intercept X for Mobile is enrolled with Sophos.
