Activate your Sophos Secure Message account

You must activate your account before you can read and reply to secure emails in Sophos Secure Message.

The first time someone sends you an email using portal encryption, you receive an email with instructions to activate your Sophos Secure Message. Once you have activated your account, you can log in to read and reply to encrypted emails.

The activation link in the email expires after 30 days.

To activate your account, do as follows:

  1. Click the account activation link in the email. You are sent to Sophos Secure Message.
  2. Enter your registration information in the appropriate fields.
  3. Create your new password.
  4. In Password Recovery, enter the answers to the suggested questions.

You can change the questions and create your own. To do this, click on the down arrow next to one of the questions.

If you forget your password, the answers to these questions are used to prove your identity.

  5. Enter an Alternate Email Address for password recovery.

If you have set at least one question and answer, this step is optional.

  6. Click Activate. Sophos Secure Message opens, and you can read your email.

When someone sends you another encrypted email, you receive an email in your usual email software with a link to Sophos Secure Message. Click this to log in and read your email.

If you enter an incorrect username or password three times, for security reasons you are locked out of your account. If this happens you must contact the organization that sent you the encrypted email.
