Quarantined messages

Messages are placed in quarantine if they fail protection rules and your administrators have selected a quarantine option. They're potentially harmful, for example spam.

Receive quarantined messages

If you have emails quarantined, you'll receive a quarantine summary message.

You can review these emails listed in the quarantine summary message and either release or delete them. Releasing emails delivers them to your inbox.

Manage your quarantined messages

You can manage your quarantined messages using Quarantine in Self Service Portal.

If you click the subject of any of the messages, you can see its content.

To manage your quarantined messages, do as follows:

  1. In Self Service Portal, click Email.

The Email Security page appears. You can see the number of quarantined messages you have and the number of quarantined messages from distribution lists.

  2. Click Quarantine.

A list of your quarantined messages is displayed. The sender, recipient, subject, time and date, and quarantine reason are shown for each message. You can use Advanced Search to filter your messages. See Advanced Search.

  3. If your administrator has allowed you to act on the messages, select one or more messages. You can select up to 400 messages.

Alternatively, click a message subject to view the message details.

Choose one of the following actions:

    • Release
    • Release and Allow
    • Delete
    • Delete and Block

    Note

Choosing an action with Allow or Block adds the sender's email address to your allow or block list.

Quarantined messages are deleted after 30 days. You'll only receive a quarantine summary message if you have new emails in your quarantine.

Notes

If you have alias accounts and your emails to aliases are quarantined, then the quarantine summary message is sent to the primary account.

Deleted user accounts keep their quarantined messages. If the user is recreated, the quarantined messages can still be released.

Tip

If you're waiting for an important email, check your Self Service Portal Quarantine rather than waiting for the quarantine summary message, which may take time to arrive, depending upon the schedule configured by your admin.
