AP6 support and services licensing

An AP6 series access point purchase includes a local web interface and CLI management options. AP6 support and services licenses include additional management and support benefits.

Support and services licensing benefits

New and existing AP6 customers must add a support and services subscription to their Sophos Central account to use Sophos Central wireless management. AP6 support and services licenses are purchased for each AP6 access point and include the following additional benefits:

  • All Sophos Central management features for AP6, including managing SSIDs and VLANs, configuring the device, and viewing the status.
  • Firmware updates.
  • 24/7 multi-channel support.
  • Advanced RMA support.

Warning

You can't make changes to your access points through Sophos Central without a valid Sophos AP6 Support and Services license.

If you don't have a valid support and services license, you'll have access to various self-help resources to assist you. However, to receive personalized support on the telephone, in the chat, or via a support case from the Sophos team, you need a valid support license. Contact your partner or sales representative if you need assistance buying a support license.

Insufficient or no support

Accounts managing AP6 in Sophos Central that own the correct subscription but not the correct quantity of licenses (undersubscribed) or don't own support licenses (unsubscribed) will see a banner on their wireless management pages in Sophos Central warning of the impact.

Note

You don't need an AP6 support and services license in the following scenarios:

  • You don't manage any AP6 access points with Sophos Central.
  • You only use APX Series access points.
  • You've purchased a monthly support and services license through an MSP.
