Will the free period be added retrospectively to renewals completed before the free overlapping entitlement is introduced?

No, this change only affects transactions made after the free overlapping entitlement is introduced.

Which scenarios qualify for the free overlapping entitlement?

The free overlapping entitlement only applies to early renewal product transitions from XG to XGS.

It doesn't apply to the following contracts and transitions:

  • New contracts
  • Amended contracts
  • Extended contracts
  • On-time renewals
  • Late renewals
  • SG to XGS transitions
  • XGS to XGS transitions
  • MSP Flex XG to XGS transitions​

SG to XGS and XGS to XGS transitions will be eligible for the free overlapping entitlement at a future date.

Can changes be made to the renewed contract before the end of the free overlap period, such as amending or extending the contract?​

No, you can only make changes after the free period is completed.

Will the free overlap period affect future amended and extended transactions during the XGS subscription period?​

Yes, the free overlap period is based on the entire term for which the customer has the subscription (free and paid term).​

What happens to the existing XG license after a customer performs an early renewal to transition to XGS?

The license is unaffected and will be valid until the end of the existing XG contract.

How is the license shown in Sophos Central and the Sophos Firewall web admin console after the license key is activated?​

The license information shows the full license period, including the free license period​.

Does the free overlap period affect the XGS hardware warranty period?​

The normal rules apply, but the warranty period also includes the free overlap period.

If the customer doesn't have a subscription that includes Enhanced Support running on their XGS, the 12-month basic warranty period starts on the provisioning date​.

If the customer has a subscription that includes Enhanced Support, the enhanced warranty period lasts for the entire term of the subscription (free and paid term).
