Sophos Switch support and services licensing

A Sophos Switch purchase includes a local web interface and CLI management options. Sophos Switch support and services licenses include the following additional benefits:

  • All Sophos Central management features for Sophos Switch, including managing ports and VLANs, configuring the device, and viewing the status.
  • Firmware updates.
  • 24/7 multi-channel support.
  • Advanced RMA support.


You can't make changes to your switch without a valid Sophos Switch support license.

New switch customers

Sophos Central accounts without any managed switches are considered new customers. When registering a switch for the first time, new switch customers must add a support and services subscription to their Sophos Central account to use Sophos Central switch management.

Existing switch customers

For existing Sophos Switch customers, we've provided an extended grace period for Sophos Central management capabilities without a support subscription. This allows organizations to use Sophos Central management regardless of their support status for the duration of the grace period.

Insufficient or no support

We strongly recommend purchasing support for every switch you plan to manage in Sophos Central.

You must purchase a support subscription for each switch you've deployed. When you've applied a support subscription license to more switches than are covered by the license, you'll see the following banner.

When you have an oversubscribed license, Sophos Switch will continue to function, but you must purchase a new license to receive support for the extra switches.

When your support subscription has expired, you'll see the following banner.

To continue receiving support for the switches associated with the expired license, you must purchase a new support subscription license.


You don't need a Sophos Switch support and services license in the following scenarios:

  • You don't manage any switches with Sophos Central.
  • You've purchased a monthly support and services license through an MSP.
