Email headers

This feature might not be available for all customers yet.

Data control rules in Sophos Email allow you to add and change email headers to select how a message is encrypted.

You can use a Data control rule to add the following headers and change the way the encryption is applied to the messages that match the rule's criteria.

Portal encryption without recipient authentication

Header Values
X-SophosEmailEncrypt-NoAuth true or false

The recipient will receive a link to portal-encrypted email that will not require authentication by recipient to view the message, if this header is set to true. You must have Portal Encryption licenses to use this feature.

Expiry period

Header Values
X-SophosEmailEncrypt-ExpiryPeriod today, fiveDays, oneWeek, or twoWeeks

You can set a message expiry period up to the maximum set in your account. The default maximum expiry period is 30 days, which you may have modified as part of the custom branding of your account. In the case of Push Encryption, the expiry period applies only to the registration message.

Sent notification

Header Values
X-SophosEmailEncrypt-SendNotification true or false

The sender will receive a notification when the encrypted email is sent to the recipient, if this header is set to true.

Read notification

Header Values
X-SophosEmailEncrypt-ReadNotification true or false

The sender will receive a notification when the encrypted email is read by the recipient, if this header is set to true. In the case of Push Encryption, the read notification is only sent for the registration message.
