Quarantine Summary Settings
With Quarantine Summary Settings, you can schedule when quarantine summary emails are sent to users. You can send a quarantine summary email to each protected mailbox. The email shows which messages were quarantined since the last summary email was sent.
For a user, only one Quarantine Summary Settings configuration can be applied. If a user has several policies assigned, the Quarantine Summary Settings configuration of the policy with the highest priority is applied. However, if this policy has External addresses and domains, the Quarantine Summary Settings configuration from the next policy in the priority order without External addresses and domains is applied. If there's no policy without External addresses and domains, the Quarantine Summary Settings configuration from the Base Policy is applied.
If you select Quarantine for a message category, messages are held until you delete or release them.
If you select Include in End User Quarantine, messages can be checked, released, or deleted by your users. If you don't turn on this setting, users won't receive quarantine summary emails. Users receive a quarantine summary email only if they receive at least one quarantined email after turning on the settings. See End User Quarantine.

Quarantine summary emails
You can only send quarantine summary emails to users. You can't send them to aliases, distribution lists, or public folders.
Quarantine summary emails sent to your users don't appear in the Message History report.
The table below shows where quarantined messages appear in quarantine summaries based on the type of recipient.

Distribution List | Owner of the distribution list summary | Sent to all owners of the distribution list. |
Shared Mailbox | Shared mailbox's quarantine summary | Sent to all users with access to the shared mailbox. No specific owner is assigned by default. |
Public Folder | Public folder owner summary | Sent to all owners of the public folder. No direct summary is sent to the public folder itself. |
Alias | User associated with the alias summary | Sent to the user assigned to the alias. |
Users can release or delete quarantined messages by clicking the appropriate link in the quarantine summary email.
Users can only read quarantined messages and won't be able to release or delete them unless you allow users to take action on these messages. They can perform Release, Release and Allow, Delete, and Delete and Block.
Schedule quarantine summary emails
You can schedule when quarantine summary emails are sent.
To schedule quarantine summary emails, do as follows:
- In your Email Security policy, go to Settings > Inbound > Anti-spam > Quarantine Summary Settings.
- Turn on Send a quarantine summary email.
- Select the appropriate time zone for your region.

Select the days on which you want the emails to be sent.
Tip
All days are selected by default. Click a day to deselect it.

Select the time slots to send the quarantine summary emails.
Tip
You can select one or more time slots. If you want your quarantine summary emails delivered 24/7, then select all days of the week and all hours of the day. When a time slot is selected, click again to deselect it.

Click Save.
