Manage new sender settings
This feature might not be available for all customers yet.
You can manage how Sophos Email handles inbound emails from new senders.
To access this setting, click the General Settings icon 
, then click New Sender Settings.
Alternatively, go to My Products > Email Security > Settings. Under Email Security, click New Sender Settings.
New Senders learning period
The New Senders learning period defines the initial period during which sender information is collected and stored for new Sophos Email accounts or newly seen senders. During this period, Sophos Email collects sender data but doesn't display New Sender alerts.
During the learning period, Sophos Email builds a sender profile based on observed email activity. Sophos Email doesn't apply banner actions related to New Sender analysis.
The learning period establishes a baseline of normal sender behavior before protection starts.
Note
The learning period starts with the first inbound email, not when the mailbox is added.
Configure the learning period
Under Number of days, select how long the learning period lasts.
Available options include:
- 0 days
- 7 days
- 14 days (default)
- 30 days
- 45 days
- 60 days
- 90 days

Tip
Choose a shorter period if you want protections to take effect sooner, or a longer period if your environment requires more time to observe sender behavior before enforcement begins.
Changing the learning period affects only new Sophos Email accounts or new senders observed after the change has taken effect. Existing sender data isn't reset.
