Install Protected Browser on Windows devices

Learn how to install Sophos Protected Browser on Windows 64-bit devices. Download the installer from Sophos Central, run it, then launch the browser.

Requirements

To install Protected Browser, your Windows devices must meet the following requirements:

  • Endpoint operating system: Windows 10 and Windows 11
  • Server operating system: Windows Server 2016 and later

  • CPU: Intel Pentium 4 and later supporting Streaming SIMD Extensions 3 (SSE3)

    Note

    Protected Browser supports only Windows 64-bit devices.

  • Memory: Minimum of 4 GB RAM. We recommend 8 GB for optimum performance.

  • Storage: 20 GB disk space

    Note

    You may need more storage depending on the number of user profiles in the browser and the usage of those profiles.

Installation

To install Protected Browser, do as follows:

  1. In Sophos Central, go to My Environment > Installers.
  2. Under Protected Browser, click Download Windows Installer (x64).
  3. Save the SophosProtectedBrowserSetUpX64.exe installer file to your device.
  4. On the Windows device, go to the location where you saved the installer.

  5. Double-click the installer and click Yes to confirm.

    Note

    You may require administrator privileges to install .exe files.

  6. Wait for the process to finish.

  7. In the Start menu or the desktop, click Sophos Protected Browser to launch the browser.
  8. Sign in using your credentials to begin using the browser.
