Bulk install the extension using Jamf Pro

You can use Jamf Pro to install the Protected Browser extension to Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers on multiple Mac devices at the same time.

The key steps are as follows:

1. Download the installer from Sophos Central.
2. Create a configuration profile for the force installation settings.
3. Create a configuration profile for the custom extension settings.
4. Create a deployable package.
5. Create a policy.

Requirements

You must have the following accounts and permissions:

• A Jamf Pro admin account
• A Sophos Central admin account
• Admin account for all the devices where you want to install the extension
• Chrome and Edge browsers must have permission to install extensions from external resources

Download the installer from Sophos Central

To download the extension installer, do as follows:

1. In Sophos Central, go to My Environment > Installers.

2. Under Browser extension, next to JAMF, click Mac.

   This downloads a .zip file. It includes the installation files for Chrome and Edge. Extract the file to your device.

Create a configuration profile for the force installation settings

In Jamf Pro, create a configuration profile as follows:

1. Go to Computers > Configuration Profiles and click Upload.

2. Click Choose file and upload the force installation file for your browser:

   • For Chrome, upload the ChromeForceInstallExtension.mobileconfig file.
   • For Edge, upload the EdgeForceInstallExtension.mobileconfig file.

3. Enter a name and description for the profile.

4. In Category, select Browser.
5. In Level, select Computer level.
6. In Distribution method, select Install automatically.
7. Click Save.
8. In Scope, add the devices on which you want to install the extension.
9. Click Save.

Create a configuration profile for the custom extension settings

In Jamf Pro, create a configuration profile as follows:

1. Go to Computers > Configuration Profiles and click Upload.

2. Click Choose file and upload the extension settings file for your browser:

   • For Chrome, upload the ChromeExtensionSettings.mobileconfig file.
   • For Edge, upload the EdgeExtensionSettings.mobileconfig file.

3. Enter a name and description for the profile.

4. In Category, select Browser.
5. In Level, select Computer level.
6. In Distribution method, select Install automatically.
7. Click Save.
8. In Scope, add the devices on which you want to install the extension.
9. Click Save.

Create a deployable package

To create a deployable package, do as follows:

1. In Jamf Pro, go to Settings > Computer management > Packages.
2. In General, enter a name for the package.
3. In Category, select Browsers.
4. Under Filename, upload the ExtensionUtility.pkg file.
5. Click Save.

Create a policy

To create a policy to install the extension, do as follows:

1. In Jamf Pro, go to Computers > Policies.
2. In General, enter a name for the policy.
3. In Category, select Browsers.
4. In Trigger, choose an event to initiate the policy. For example, select Recurring Check-in to apply the policy the next time the device checks in with the Jamf Pro server.
5. In Packages, choose the deployable package you created for the extension.
6. In Scope, add the devices on which you want to install the extension.
7. Click Save.
