Restore a reset or replaced switch

You can restore a backup from Sophos Central on a switch that's been reset or replaced. You can also use this process when migrating a switch from one Sophos Central account to another.

Download the backup

Before restoring a backup to a reset or replaced switch, you must download the backup file you want to restore from Sophos Central. Do as follows:

  1. Sign in to Sophos Central.
  2. Go to My Products > Switches > Backup.
  3. Click the serial number of the switch you want to reset.
  4. Select the backup you want to download.
  5. Click Actions and click Download backup. Note the location of the .cfg file. You'll need it later.

Remove the switch from Sophos Central

You only need to remove the switch from Sophos Central if you plan on resetting it.

Warning

Removing a switch from Sophos Central also deletes all backups for that switch. If you plan on restoring the settings, make sure you've downloaded the most recent backup for the switch.

  1. Go to My Products > Switches.
  2. Click the serial number of the switch you want to reset.
  3. Click Remove from Sophos Central.
  4. Select the checkbox and click Confirm.

Restore the backup

Restoring the backup is different for reset and replaced switches. Click the appropriate tab for instructions.
