Reset an AP6 or APX series access point

You can use the reset button on AP6 and APX series access points to restart or reset them to factory configuration.

Depending on how long you press and hold the reset button, you can restart an access point or reset its configuration and image to factory defaults. Click the appropriate tab for details.

How to restart and reset an APX series access point.

Restart with current image and configuration

To restart the access point, do as follows:

  1. Press and hold the reset button for up to 8 seconds.
  2. Release the reset button. The LED turns off, starts flashing, and then turns solid green to indicate the access point is restarting.

Restart with current image and a factory default configuration

To reset the access point to factory default configuration, do as follows:

  1. Press and hold the reset button for 15 to 20 seconds.
  2. Release the reset button. The access point restarts with a factory default configuration.
  3. Register the access point to Sophos Central.

Restart with current image and configuration

To restart the access point, do as follows:

  1. Press the reset button.
  2. Release the reset button. The LED turns off, starts flashing, and then turns solid green to indicate the access point is restarting.

Restart with current image and a factory default configuration

To reset the access point to factory default configuration, do as follows:

  1. Press and hold the reset button for five seconds. The status LED turns solid red for 5 seconds.
  2. After 5 seconds, the LED starts flashing red.

    Note

    If you release the reset button before the LED starts flashing, the reset is cancelled and the access point restarts with its current image and configuration.

  3. Release the reset button. All configuration is cleared. The access point restarts with the factory default configuration.

  4. Register the access point to Sophos Central.
