Computers

On the Computers page, you can manage your protected computers.

Go to Devices and then click Computers to manage computers.

They appear automatically after Sophos agent software has been installed.

You can do as follows:

• View computer details.
• Delete computers.
• Install or uninstall software.
• Reset the health status.
• Export the computers list to CSV.

If you're using Sophos Device Encryption, you can also do as follows:

• See the encryption status. See Encryption status.
• Get a recovery key for encrypted computers.

View computer details

The computers list shows you the current computers with these details:

• Name.
• Security health status shown as an icon beside the name. See Computer Summary
• IP Address. Hover over the icon to see details of all IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
• Operating System.
• Products installed. For example, Intercept X or Encryption.
• Last user.
• Last active. This is the last time that the computer contacted Sophos. The timestamp is refreshed only once an hour on average.
• Group. The group that the computer belongs to (if it belongs to one).

To search for a computer, enter the name in the search field above the list.

To filter computers according to their type, health status, recent activity, or encryption status, use the filters above the list.

You can click on a computer name to see more details of that computer, to take action against the alerts, or to update, scan or delete the computer.

Find inactive computers

You can find computers that no longer communicate with Sophos Central or have been removed.

By default, the computers list shows only computers that have been online in the past 30 days.

To see computers that have been offline for more than 30 days, go to the Recently online filter and select Not online recently.

You can now investigate the computers that are inactive and take action as follows:

• If the Sophos software on the computers no longer communicates with Sophos Central, fix or reinstall the software.
• If the computers have been removed, delete them from Sophos Central.

Delete computers

You can delete computers that you no longer need to manage from Sophos Central.

Select the computer or computers you want to delete and click Delete (in the upper right of the page).

This deletes the computer and the alerts associated with the computer.

Install or uninstall software

You can select new endpoint software to be installed on computers that are already protected and managed by Sophos Central.

You can also uninstall software.

To do either, do as follows:

1. Select the computers you want to install or uninstall software on.
2. Click Manage Endpoint Software.

3. Choose your software.

   

4. Click Save.

The computers will update to the selected software. See Computer restarts.

Reset health status

You can reset the security health status of selected computers to "Healthy" (green tick beside the name).

A reset doesn't clean up threats or fix software, but does clear alerts in Sophos Central and on the computer.

Do a reset if you want to clear old issues and focus on current or future ones. Computers that are issue-free stay “Healthy” after the reset, so any current or future protection or malware issues will be more obvious.

To reset the health status, select computers and click Reset health status.

This doesn't affect protection. If computers have issues that need action, they'll return to bad health status.

Export to CSV

To export a list of computers:

Click Export to CSV.

This creates a file called devices.csv. Any currently active filters are applied to the list.

For example you can export a list of Windows computers by applying the Windows Computers filter before clicking Export to CSV.

Retrieve recovery key

This option is available from More on the Computers page.

If users are unable to log in to their encrypted computer, you can get a recovery key which is used to unlock the computer. See Encryption Recovery Key Search.

Select multiple computers

Your computers are shown in a table. The table can have multiple pages.

You can select multiple computers to manage them as a group. You may find this useful if you're managing many devices and need to select several computers.

You select devices by moving the focus in the table and using your keyboard and mouse or your keyboard alone to select or deselect a computer. You can use Ctrl and Shift to move to the next page. You can use the options as shown in the following table.
