Licensing and Billing

You can manage firewalls and assign them to Sophos Central customers.

You must be a Partner Super Admin to create, edit, delete or hide firewalls.

Dashboard

  • You can search for existing firewalls by Serial number, Owned by, Model, and Assigned to.

  • To show firewalls that you've hidden, click Show all.

  • To add a virtual firewall, you can click Request Virtual Firewall.

  • To edit a firewall, you can click your firewall's serial number.

  • The subscription column shows multiple subscriptions. You can see your subscription details by hovering over the subscription column for your firewall.

Virtual Firewalls

You can only manage virtual firewalls if you're a Flex Partner.

For virtual firewalls you can do as follows:

  • Request a new firewall.

  • Edit the description, subscription, assignment and virtual firewall size for a firewall.

  • Delete a firewall.

  • Hide a firewall.

Request a new virtual firewall

If you're a Flex Partner, you can request a new virtual Sophos Firewall that is registered with Sophos Central and available to customers under a monthly subscription.

To request a virtual firewall, do as follows:

  1. Click Request Virtual Firewall.

  2. In Add a Virtual Firewall, enter the following information:

    • Registrant: The email address to which the firewall is registered. You can use any of the Sophos Central Partner administrator email addresses, ideally an administrator with firewall privileges.

    • Description: Enter the description for the firewall. The description can be 250 characters maximum.

    • Subscription: The firewall features that you want to make available. Select None if you aren't sure which subscription to choose right now.

    • Assigned customer: The customer to whom the firewall is assigned.

      If you specified a subscription type, you must assign a customer.

    • Virtual firewall Size: The number of cores on the firewall's CPU and its memory. For example, 16C24 means 16 cores and 24 GB RAM.

  3. Click Save

  4. Confirm your request. You will see a message, "Virtual Firewall created successfully" with your new serial number.

  5. Click Finish. A notification of your addition is shown in the lower right of Sophos Central Partner. The firewall is added to the table.

    Your chosen subscription is shown in the Pending column until the request is complete. After this, it moves to the Subscription column. Subscription requests are performed automatically within a few minutes.

If a request is still pending after 20 minutes, contact your channel account manager with the following details:

  • Firewall serial number

  • Subscription name

  • Date and time of the request

Ask your account manager to ensure that the subscription is active.

Edit a virtual firewall

If you're a Flex Partner, you can edit the size and subscription of a virtual firewall. You can also delete a virtual firewall. A virtual firewall has a model number that starts with “SFV”.

Restriction

If there's a pending subscription change, you can't edit that firewall.

To edit a virtual firewall, do as follows:

  1. Click the Serial Number of the firewall.

  2. In Edit Virtual Firewall, you can change the following settings:

    • Description: Change the description for the firewall. The description can be 250 characters maximum.

    • Subscription: The firewall features that you want to make available.

    • Assigned customer: Change the customer to whom the firewall is assigned.

    • Virtual firewall size: The number of cores on the firewall's CPU and its memory. For example, 16C24 means 16 cores and 24 GB RAM.

    • Create new managed customer: Directs you to the Start New Trial form. See Trial Licenses

    • Hide Firewall: The firewall isn't shown in the Firewalls list. Confirm you want to hide the firewall.

    • Delete Firewall: Deletes the firewall from the Sophos Central Partner console and the Sophos Central console. You must confirm your deletion. A notification of your deletion is shown in the lower right of Sophos Central Partner.

      Restriction

      If there's a pending subscription change, you can't delete that firewall.

  3. Click Save. A notification of your update is shown in the lower right of Sophos Central Partner.

    Any subscription change is shown in the Pending column until it is done. After that, it moves to the Subscription column. Subscription changes are performed automatically within a few minutes.

    If a change is still pending after 20 minutes, contact your channel account manager with the following details:

    • Firewall serial number

    • Current subscription name

    • Pending subscription name

    • Date and time of the change request

    Ask your account manager to ensure that the changes have been made.

Hardware Firewalls

For hardware firewalls you can do as follows:

  • Edit the subscription for a firewall.

  • Edit the assignment for a firewall.

Edit a hardware firewall

You can edit the assignment and subscription of a hardware firewall. A hardware firewall has a model number that starts with “XG”.

To edit a hardware firewall, do as follows:

  1. Click the Serial Number of the firewall.

  2. In Firewall Details, you can change the following settings:

    • Assigned To: The customer to whom the firewall is assigned. Click Unassign to unassign the firewall from a customer. Click Create new managed customer to create a new customer to whom you can assign the firewall.
    • Subscription: The firewall features that you want to make available.

    Restriction

    If the firewall is assigned to a customer or Type is Evaluation, or there's a pending subscription change, you can't change the subscription.

  3. Click Save. Any subscription change is shown in the Pending column until it is done. After this, it moves to the Subscription column. Subscription changes are performed automatically within a few minutes.

If a change is still pending after 20 minutes, contact your channel account manager with the following details:

  • Firewall serial number

  • Current subscription name

  • Pending subscription name

  • Date and time of change request

Ask your account manager to ensure that the changes have been made.
