Sophos Secure Message PDF passwords

The first time you receive an encrypted email from Sophos Secure Message, click Set Sophos Secure Message password to open Create a Password and create a password. Once you have created a password, it is used to encrypt any subsequent messages we send to you.

Note

An encrypted document's password is permanent. For example to view a document that was encrypted on 12th October 2018, you must enter your password from 12th October 2018.

  1. Click the account activation link in the email. You are sent to Sophos Secure Message.
  2. Enter your email address and create your new password.
  3. In the Log in with Password section, enter the answers to up to three questions.

You can change the questions and create your own. To do this, click on the down arrow next to one of the questions. If you forget your password, the answers to these questions are used to prove your identity.

  4. Enter an Alternate Email Address for password recovery. If you have set at least one question and answer, this step is optional.

  5. Click Apply.

Close Sophos Secure Message and return to your email software. Your encrypted email is sent to your usual email software.

You can log in any time to change your password or view your password history.

You can see a list of your earlier password in View your PDF password history. To recover your password, see Recover your password.
