Sophos Secure Message passwords

The first time you receive an encrypted email from Sophos Secure Message, you'll need to set a password. Click Set Sophos Secure Message password to open Create a Password and create a password. When you've created a password, it's used to encrypt any later messages we send to you.

Note

The password for an encrypted document file is permanent. For example, to open a document that was encrypted on October 12, 2018, you must enter your password from October 12, 2018.

  1. Click the account activation link in the email.

You're redirected to Sophos Secure Message.

  2. Enter your email address and create your new password.

  3. In the Log in with Password section, enter the answers to up to three questions.

You can change the questions and create your own. To do this, click the down arrow next to one of the questions. If you forget your password, the answers to these questions are used to prove your identity.

  4. Enter an Alternate Email Address for password recovery.

If you've set at least one question and answer, this step is optional.

  5. Click Apply.

  6. Close Sophos Secure Message and return to your email software.

Your encrypted email is sent to your usual email software.

You can sign in anytime to change your password or view your password history.

You can see a list of your earlier passwords in View your password history. To recover your password, see Recover your password.
