Policies

A policy contains settings you can apply to a device or device group.

There are two types of policies:

  1. Policies that take effect immediately when you assign them to a device. These policies are synchronized each time the device connects to Sophos Mobile. When you change the policy, you don’t have to update it on the device. To remove the settings applied by the policy, you must either update the policy or assign a different policy.

    These policies are:

    • Android Enterprise policies
    • Sophos container policies
    • Mobile Threat Defense policies
    • macOS policies
    • Windows policies
    • Windows Mobile policies
    • Chrome Security policies
  2. Policies Sophos Mobile installs on a device when you assign them. When you change the policy, you must update it on the device. To remove the settings applied by the policy, you can uninstall it from the device.

    These policies are:

    • Android device policies
    • Knox container policies
    • iOS device policies
