App Protection configuration (Android device policy)

The App Protection configuration lets you protect specific apps with a password.

The same password applies to all protected apps. Users must set it the first time they open one of the apps.

Restriction

Due to Android restrictions, users don’t need a password in the following situations:

  • They interact with the app via other apps like Google Assistant or via Android system functionality.
  • The app runs in a multi-window mode, such as split-screen, floating windows, or tiny windows.
Setting Description
Password complexity Password requirements such as minimal length or if the password must contain numbers or letters.
Grace period in minutes The period during which users can open protected apps without a password after they closed a protected app.
App group The app group containing the apps that you want to protect.

For creating app groups, see App groups.

Allow fingerprint authentication Users can use their fingerprint instead of a password.
