AI Defense license expiration

Find out how AI Defense license expiration affects access, policies, and renewal options.

No active license

If you don't have an active Sophos AI Defense license or trial, you'll see the following message:

You don't have access to Sophos AI Defense

Issue

Your organization doesn't have an active Sophos AI Defense license, so this area is unavailable.

What to do

Purchase a Sophos AI Defense license.

With AI Defense, you can do the following activities:

  • Discover shadow AI usage.
  • Identify sensitive information shared with AI applications.
  • Apply policies to allow, warn, or block AI application activity.

After access ends

When access ends, AI Defense becomes unavailable. Enabled AI Defense policies are also disabled.

Sophos retains the policy configuration temporarily so you can review it if the license is renewed.

The following items are retained during the recovery period:

  • Policy names
  • Rules
  • Scope
  • Sensors
  • Priority

Retained policies aren't automatically re-enabled.

Renew your license

If you renew AI Defense after access has ended, you can see the following options:

  • Go to onboarding: Continue to onboarding without reactivating retained policies.

  • Review and reactivate: Review retained policies and select which ones to enable.

    This option is available only when retained disabled policies exist.
