Troubleshooting email protection

Emails are not delivered. They remain in the mail spool.

Cause

Automatically created firewall rules, such as the rules created when you add an IPsec connection or hotspot are at the top of the rule list. The same issue can occur when you set the Rule position to Top for manually created firewall rules.

If these rules match the criteria for SMTP traffic, XG Firewall won't evaluate other rules in the rule list. So, the rule that applies to SMTP traffic (typically, the automatically created MTA rule) isn't evaluated, and emails remain in the mail spool.

Remedy

  1. Go to Rules and policies > Firewall rules.
  2. In the firewall rule list, move the new rule lower to meet your requirements.
