Reset your admin password during startup

You can reset your password during the startup process.

To reset your password, follow the hardware or virtual appliance instructions.

  • To reset your password for an XG Firewall hardware appliance, do as follows:
    1. Connect the console cable and access XG Firewall using PuTTY or hyper terminal.
    2. Configure the terminal client parameters as follows:

      Parameter

      38400

      Parity

      None

      Stop bits

      1

      Flow control

      None

    3. Restart the appliance.
    4. Press and hold Enter until the SFLoader shows. On some new versions (for example, version 3), you need to press the Enter key constantly instead of holding it down.

    5. Select 0: SFLoader.
    6. In Options, choose 2. Troubleshoot.

    7. In Troubleshoot, choose 1. Reset console password.

      The admin password is reset to the default password: admin.

  • To reset your password for an XG Firewall virtual appliance, do as follows:
    1. Sign in to the virtual appliance's console.
    2. Select 7. Shutdown/Reboot Device and then enter r to reboot the virtual appliance.
    3. During boot up, continuously press Enter or press and hold Enter until the SFLoader appears.
    4. Select 0: SFLoader.
    5. In Options, choose 2. Troubleshoot.

    6. In Troubleshoot, select 1. Reset console password.

      The admin password is reset to the default password: admin.
