Turn on IP reputation

You can turn on IP reputation to block or allow inbound and outbound emails based on the sender's IP address.

If you turn it on, Sophos Firewall looks for the sender’s IP address in the database of IP addresses to determine whether a message is spam and takes action.

To turn on IP reputation, do as follows:

  1. Go to Email > General settings.
  2. Under SMTP settings, turn on Reject based on IP reputation.
  3. Click Apply.

To turn on IP reputation, do as follows:

  1. Go to Email > General settings.
  2. Under SMTP settings, turn on Verify sender's IP Reputation and specify one of the following actions for Confirm spam action and Probable spam action:

    • Accept: Scans and forwards to the recipient.
    • Reject: Rejects the email and notifies the sender.
    • Drop: Drops the email without notifying the sender.
  3. Click Apply.

General settings apply to all emails. Sophos Firewall implements these settings and then the SMTP and POP-IMAP policies.
