Add a dynamic DNS provider
Sophos Firewall supports third-party dynamic DNS (DDNS) providers.
To add a dynamic DNS provider, do as follows:
- Go to Network > Dynamic DNS and click Add.
-
Enter the hostname you received when you registered with your DDNS service provider, using the following format:
<accountname>.<DDNS provider>.com
Some providers may use a different format. For example, you may need to specify the domain and subdomains for some providers and use just the domain as a sign-in name. Check with your DDNS provider.
Note
We're discontinuing Sophos DDNS in 18.5 MR1 and later. You can't register DDNS domains using
myfirewall.co
any longer. -
Select an interface. Its IP address is bound to the hostname you've specified.
-
Select the IPv4 address of the interface.
- Use port IP: IP address of the interface.
- NATed public IP: Translated IP address of the interface. Use this if your firewall is behind a router and uses a private IP address.
Note
Sophos Firewall checks for a change in the server IP address every 5 minutes.
-
Select the third-party DDNS provider and the credentials. If your provider doesn't require a login name, you must enter your domain for the Login name.
Note
All third-party DDNS providers require a login name and password, except Cloudflare, which requires an email address and a global API key. To get your Cloudflare global API key, see Cloudflare API key.
