Hardware and software requirements

HA devices on hardware, virtual, and software platforms must meet the hardware and software requirements.

You must also prepare your network and the HA devices before configuring HA.

Models and versions

The primary and auxiliary devices must be identical as follows:

  1. Models: See the following hardware appliance requirements:

    • XGS Series: Use the same firewall model. The hardware revisions can differ. Example: XGS 2100 with another XGS 2100.
    • XG Series: Use the same firewall model and revision. Example: XG 750 Rev.1 with another XG 750 Rev.1.

    Restriction

    HA isn't available in Wi-Fi models, including XGS, XG, and SG Series appliances.

  2. Flexi ports: If you installed the Flexi port expansion modules, make sure the number of Flexi ports is the same.

  3. Firmware version: Use the same firmware version, including the maintenance release. Make sure the build number is the same if you find a version with different build numbers.

Resources and versions

The primary and auxiliary devices must be identical as follows:

  1. See the following resource requirements:

    • Use the same type of hypervisor.
    • Assign identical hardware resources, such as CPU cores.
    • Assign the same number of network interfaces.

    Note

    Use the same platform in both devices for SFOS software appliances. For hardware requirements, see Software appliance.

  2. Firmware version: Use the same firmware version, including the maintenance release. Make sure the build number is the same if you find a version with different build numbers.
