Add a file type

You can add a file type to SMTP scanning policies.

Create a new file type

To create a new file type, do as follows:

  1. Go to Email > Policies and exceptions > File type and click Add.
  2. Enter a name.
  3. Select a template. Templates organize commonly used file extensions and MIME headers by category, for example, video files. You can use templates instead of typing extensions and MIME headers.
  4. Specify file extensions and MIME headers.

    Note

    Don't enter a dot (.) before file extensions.

  5. Click Save.

  1. Go to Email > Policies > File type and click Add.
  2. Enter a name.

  4. Specify file extensions and MIME headers.

  5. Click Save.

Apply the new file type

New file types aren't automatically added to existing policies. To add the new file type to your SMTP policies, do as follows:

  1. Go to Email > Policies and exceptions.
  2. Click Edit Edit. on the policy the new file type should be active in.
  3. Click Save.
