When to transfer licenses in HA

When you transfer licenses from one firewall to another, you transfer the licenses from one serial number to another.

You must transfer licenses in HA devices in the following scenarios:

  • Active-passive HA: If you assigned the licenses to the auxiliary device instead of the initial primary device, you must transfer the licenses to the primary device. See Transfer licenses in HA devices.
  • Replacement of older models: You must replace both devices because HA devices must be of the same firewall model. See Hardware and software requirements.
  • RMA: Replacement of faulty device through the RMA process.
