Synchronized Application Control overview
Synchronized Application Control (SAC) detects application traffic in your network and automatically categorizes known applications. You can categorize and rename unknown applications.
You can control application traffic based on that information. Interactive application reporting provides deep insight into network traffic.
Note
This feature requires the Web Protection subscription. You can configure the feature but can't use it without a valid subscription.
Clean up application database: Sophos Firewall can automatically clear applications detected before a certain time period. It then runs a daily check for these applications and deletes them in batches of 100 every five minutes. Applications are also deleted from application filter policies if they were added individually. To use this feature, you must register this firewall with Sophos Central.
When you migrate to 21.0 and later versions and SAC is turned on, automatic cleanup is turned on and set to the default cleanup time of 12 months. If you've changed the cleanup time from the default, the firewall keeps the new setting. If you turn off SAC, both SAC and cleanup stay turned off.
Note
The domain created on Sophos Firewall must be the same as the domain selected on the endpoint.
