Add an SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c community

You can create an SNMPv1 and SNMPv2c community by adding an SNMP manager.

You can also allow SNMP requests and traps (alerts).

  1. Go to Administration > SNMP. Scroll down to SNMPv1/v2c and select Add.
  2. Enter a name.
  3. Enter a community string.

This identifies the community and functions as a password to authenticate SNMP queries.

  4. Select the IP version of the SNMP manager. Choose from IPv4 or IPv6.

  5. Enter the IP address of the SNMP manager.

If an SNMP manager or authorized host is in the WAN zone, turn on SNMP for the WAN zone. Go to Administration > Device access.

  6. Select Accept Queries to allow requests from the specified manager.

  7. Select Send traps to send traps to the specified manager.

    Tip

To turn on SNMP traps, go to System services > Notification list.

  8. Click Save.
