Prepare for setup

Before you start the setup assistant, connect the firewall to your network and decide how you want to configure the firewall.

Do as follows:

  1. Connect the firewall to your network.

    To do this, see the quick start guide for your appliance.

  2. Decide about the following configurations:

    1. Passwords and accounts

      Before you use the setup assistant, make sure you have the following information:

      • A password you want to set for the super administrator admin.
      • A secure storage master key you want to set to encrypt sensitive information.

      • Make sure you know your Sophos ID.

        Note

        If you don't have a Sophos ID, you can create it during the setup.
