Appendix - Allocated Ports

On each TCP port and on each UDP port, only one server can listen at a time. Some servers listen to TCP traffic only, some to UDP traffic only, some to both, as specified in the list below. There are very rare exceptions when two servers can share the same port. For example, OpenVPN can pass through HTTPS traffic to the end user portal.

Some servers always listen on the same, hard-coded port. Therefore these ports are listed as "fixed". No other program can ever use these ports.

Note – Some of these services can be disabled. If no server is listening on one of the fixed ports, the service normally using that port has probably been switched off.
