Firmware upgrade
You can upgrade the firmware on your switch using HTTPS or TFTP.
Warning
Back up your configuration before upgrading to prevent loss of settings information. See Backup and restore.
Click the appropriate tab for firmware upgrade instructions.
You can upload a new firmware version to the switch using an HTTPS connection. To upgrade the switch firmware using the HTTPS connection, do as follows:
- Sign in to Sophos Central and go to Devices > Installers.
- Under Switches, click Download firmware for your switch.

Find the
.zip
file. It contains two.sig
files. Extract your switch's.sig
file to a location of your choice.Note
CS101 switch models and CS110 and CS210 switch models have different firmware images. Make sure you select the right image for your switch.

Open a web browser and connect to the switch on the device where you downloaded the firmware.
- Go to Configure > Firmware > Firmware upgrade.
- Select HTTPS for the Upgrade method.
- Select which Partition you want to install the new firmware on.
- Click Select file, select the file you extracted earlier, and click Open.
- Click Apply, then click Apply to upload the firmware to the switch.
- When the upload is complete, click Upgrade to apply the firmware.
- Once the firmware is applied, select Reboot or Continuous PoE Power to restart the switch and complete the upgrade.
If you have multiple switches to upgrade, you can use a TFTP server to distribute the firmware image in your environment. Do as follows:
- Sign in to Sophos Central and go to Devices > Installers.
- Under Switches, click Download firmware for your switch.

Locate the
.zip
file. It contains two.sig

files to the shared directory on the TFTP server.Note

Open a web browser and connect to the switch.
- Go to Configure > Firmware > Firmware upgrade.
- Select TFTP for the Upgrade method.
- Select which Partition you want to install the new firmware on.
- For TFTP Server, enter the IP address of your TFTP server.
- For File Name, enter the name of the
.sig
file on the TFTP server. - Click Apply, then click Apply to upload the firmware to the switch.
- When the upload is complete, click Upgrade to apply the firmware.
- Once the firmware is applied, select Reboot or Continuous PoE Power to restart the switch and complete the upgrade.
The upgrade process takes a few minutes to complete. We recommend that you clear your browser cache after upgrading your firmware.
