Storm Control
Storm control lets you limit the number of broadcast, unknown multicast, and unknown unicast frames accepted and forwarded by Sophos Switch. You can turn storm control on per port by defining the packet type and the packets' transmit rate. Sophos Switch measures each port's incoming broadcast, unknown multicast, and unknown unicast frame rates separately and discards frames when the rate exceeds the defined limit.
To configure storm control, do as follows:
- Go to Configure > QoS > Storm control.
- Select a port.
- Click Edit.
- Select Broadcast (kbps) to turn on storm control for broadcast frames.
- Enter the Broadcast (kbps) value. The value must be a multiple of 16. The range is 16 to 10000000.
- Select Unknown multicast (kbps) to turn on storm control for broadcast frames.
- Enter the Unknown multicast (kbps) value. The value must be a multiple of 16. The range is 16 to 10000000.
- Select Unknown unicast (kbps) to turn on storm control for broadcast frames.
