Any configuration changes made locally on the switch won't be synchronized with Sophos Central. We recommend making changes from the Sophos Central control panel instead.

CIST port settings

Use the CIST Ports Settings page to configure and view STA attributes for interfaces when the spanning-tree mode is set to STP or RSTP.

You can use different priority or path costs for ports of the same media type to indicate a preferred path.

To configure a port, do as follows:

  1. Select the checkbox of the port you want to configure.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Configure the following port settings:
Option Description
Priority Set up the priority to define the root bridge of the switch. The priority number must be a multiple of the number 4096.
Path cost ( 0 is Auto) The path cost setting specifies the relative cost of sending spanning-tree traffic through the interface to adjacent bridges within a spanning-tree region.
Edge port configuration/operation

Select Yes to set the port as an edge port.

When the topology changes, the edge port can change its state directly from blocking to forwarding. To generate the spanning tree quickly, set the ports connected to the end devices as edge ports.

P2P MAC configuration/operation

Select the status of the P2P (Point-to-Point) link to which the ports are connected. When the spanning tree is regenerated, if the port of the P2P link is elected as the root port or the designated port, it can directly change its state to forwarding.

Three options are supported: Auto, Yes, and No. The default is No.

Auto: The switch automatically checks if the port is connected to a P2P link and then sets the status as open or closed.

Yes: A port is set as the one connected to a P2P link. You should check the link first.

No: A port is set as the one that isn’t connected to a P2P link. You should check the link first.
