Factory default

You can reset the device to its factory default settings using the Factory default option in the local UI or the physical reset button on the device.

Warning

All configuration changes are lost and replaced with the factory default settings, including the IP address and administrator password.

Local UI

To reset the access point to its factory default settings in the local UI, do as follows:

  1. Sign in to the access point.
  2. Go to Advanced > Factory default.
  3. Click Factory Default.

    A pop-up window appears and asks you to confirm.

  4. Click OK.

    The access point restarts with the factory default settings.

Reset button

Click the appropriate tab to see how to reset your AP6 access point using the physical reset button.

To reset AP6 420(E) and 840(E) access points with factory default settings, do as follows:

  1. Press and hold the reset button for five seconds.

    The status LED turns solid red.

  2. Continue holding the reset button for another five seconds.

    Tip

    You can release the button during this step to cancel the reset process. This is your last chance to stop the process before the device is reset to factory settings.

  3. Release the reset button when the status LED starts blinking red.

    The access point restarts with the factory default settings.

To reset AP6 420X access points with factory default settings, do as follows:

  1. Press and hold the reset button for five seconds.

    The status, radio, and mesh LEDs start blinking red.

  2. Continue holding the reset button for another five seconds.

    Tip

    You can release the button during this step to cancel the reset process. This is your last chance to stop the process before the device is reset to factory settings.

  3. Release the reset button when the mesh LED turns off.

    The access point restarts with the factory default settings.
