Packet capture

The access point includes a built-in packet capture tool. This tool can capture all LAN or WLAN network traffic for a specified time. You can choose from the following options:

  • Packet Capture: Captures all traffic on the LAN ports for a specified time.
  • WLAN packet capture: Captures all traffic on the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz wireless frequencies.

    Note

When you start a WLAN packet capture, the access point disconnects all connected wireless devices.

To capture network traffic, do as follows:

  1. Enter the duration, in seconds, that you would like to capture network traffic for in either the Packet Capture or WLAN packet capture field.
  2. Click Start. You can see the progress of the capture in the Status field.

    Tip

You can click Cancel to stop the capture at any time.

  3. When the capture is complete, click OK.

  4. Click Save to save the packet capture result to your local device.

    Note

The access point saves the packet capture as multiple pcap files. Each ethernet interface and wireless frequency has its own pcap file.
