FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Sophos AP6 access points.
What are the AP6 power requirements?
AP6 420, 420E, 420X, and 840 models require an 802.3at (PoE+) power source. The AP6 840E requires an 802.3bt (PoE++) power source capable of at least 40W. We recommend using power-sourcing equipment compliant with the 802.3bt standard, such as the Sophos 60W PoE++ injector or the Sophos CS210-8FP Switch. See AP6 power requirements.
How do you manage the access point in Sophos Central?
You must register your access point in Sophos Central before you can manage it. See Register your access point.
How do you update the firmware on an AP6 access point?
You can update the access point firmware in the following ways:
- Sophos Central: You can schedule firmware updates or configure your access points to upgrade automatically in Sophos Central. See AP6 series firmware upgrade.
- Local UI: You can update the firmware and check for the most recent version in the access point's local UI. See Update firmware.
Can I use the same SSID assigned to my AP or APX access points?
No. You must create a new SSID for AP6 access points.
Why can't I see some countries in the Country selection drop-down menu?
You can only add an AP6 access point to a country within its SKU's region, so only countries from the same region as the access point's SKU appear.
