Support for fresh installations
Learn about support options for fresh Sophos Firewall installations, including recommendations for a clean setup and assistance from Sophos Partners and Professional Services.
Our primary recommendation is a fresh installation, which is then manually configured. This makes sure the new installation doesn't carry over outdated rules, policies, and lists.
How to set up the firewall
After you set up the firewall, validate your configuration to minimize disruption during deployment.
- Configure all rules, policies, and settings in the new firewall, and review them.
- Verify network details, such as IP addressing, gateway, DNS, and interface mapping.
- When you're ready, schedule downtime to connect the firewall to the network devices.
- You may need to update or restart upstream devices, such as switches and modems, to clear the MAC address cache and make sure that port security is updated with the latest MAC address.
- Verify internet connectivity and access to the web admin console, and confirm that critical services and traffic flows work as expected.
