Uninstall unsupported management software

Check whether you need to uninstall management software that isn't supported by Sophos Central

Introduction

You can't use Sophos Central Migration Tool to migrate a computer that has any of the following software installed.

  • Sophos Enterprise Console (management server).
  • A remote Sophos Update Manager (an update manager on a different server from Sophos Enterprise Console).
  • A Sophos message relay. The relay handles communications between managed computers and Sophos Enterprise Console.
  • PureMessage for Microsoft Exchange, Sophos for Microsoft SharePoint, or PureMessage for Lotus Domino.

For advice on uninstalling this software, see the sections below.

Uninstall Sophos Enterprise Console

Don't migrate the Sophos Enterprise Console management server until you've migrated all your other computers.

Before you migrate the server, uninstall all the Sophos Enterprise Console components. For instructions on how to do this in the correct order, see Migrate the Sophos Enterprise Console management server.

Uninstall Sophos Update Manager

Uninstall Sophos Update Manager and migrate the computer as follows:

  1. Ensure all computers that update from the remote Update Manager have either been migrated or configured to update from a different Update Manager.
  2. Uninstall Sophos Update Manager.

You can use the Apps & Features or Programs and Features settings in Windows to do the uninstallation.

  3. Run the Sophos Endpoint Protection installer for Windows to migrate the computer manually.

You can get the installer from Sophos Central. Go to Overview > Protect Devices.

Uninstall a message relay

Go to the computer and do as follows:

  1. Ensure all computers configured to use the message relay have either been migrated or configured to use a different message relay.
  2. Uninstall Sophos components from the computer.

You can use the Apps & Features or Programs and Features settings in Windows to do the uninstallation.

  3. Run the Sophos Endpoint Protection installer for Windows. The installer migrates the computer manually.

You can get the installer from Sophos Central. Go to Overview > Protect Devices.

Alternatively, undo the changes you made when you configured the message relay. You can then use the migration tool to migrate the computer. See Sophos Enterprise Console: configuring message relay computers.

Uninstall Sophos PureMessage or Sophos for Microsoft SharePoint

These products aren't supported anymore.

Uninstall the product. You can then use the migration tool to migrate the computers to Sophos Central.
