Certain file types should be restricted over both Web and Email - PE (portable executable)

Explanation

It is recommended to block executable file types since the infection risk is high. A file click execution might trigger malicious code or payload. Furthermore, attaching an executable file type is not a good security practice. The executable files are blocked over email, but someone can still send the link to download them over the web. Blocking the executable files over both email and web is highly recommended.

Resolution

  1. Go to PROTECT > Email > Policies & exceptions.
  2. Open or add your SMTP route & scan policy.
  3. Select Executable Files under File protection.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Ensure that your executable file type is added in PROTECT > Web > File types.
